Why Welder Internals Matter More Than the Spec Sheet
Spec sheets tell you peak numbers, but they don't tell you how a machine holds up over years of real use. The components inside — the IGBTs, capacitors, and cabling — determine reliability, arc stability, and lifespan.
IGBTs (insulated-gate bipolar transistors) are the heart of an inverter welder. Quality, verifiable IGBTs deliver a smooth, stable arc and tolerate the heat and switching stress of heavy use. Cheap or unbranded parts are where corners get cut.
Capacitors smooth the power delivery. High-temperature (105°C) dual capacitors handle thermal load far better than budget alternatives, which degrade and fail early in hot, hard-working machines.
Heavy copper cabling carries current with less resistance and less heat loss than aluminum or under-gauged wiring. It's a small detail that adds up to a more efficient, cooler-running machine.
This is why Thorworx publishes what's inside every welder. When you can verify the internals, you're buying performance you can trust — not just a number printed on the front panel.
