Inside the machine

The inverter makes the arc. These parts keep it cool and keep it steady.

ELECTRONICSOVERSIZED
01

Oversized aluminum heat sinks

Oversized

Aluminum mass, every model

Its job
Absorbs the heat the electronics make.
For you
The duty cycle on the spec sheet is the duty cycle you get.
Details

Heat sinks absorb the thermal energy generated by the machine's electronics. More aluminum means more heat absorption, which means your machine runs longer before it needs to rest. Every Thorworx model uses oversized heat sinks so the duty cycle on the spec sheet is the duty cycle you actually get.

  • Sustained output during long, heavy welds
  • Rated duty cycle delivered in real shop conditions
  • Oversized aluminum mass on every model
WALL POWERIGBTTO THE ARC

Fairchild IGBTs

ON Semi

Fairchild IGBT power stage

Its job
Turns wall power into your arc.
For you
A stable, consistent arc, weld after weld.
Details

The IGBT is the component that converts incoming power into your welding arc. It switches thousands of times per second. We use Fairchild IGBTs from ON Semiconductor, a name with over 60 years in industrial power electronics. A quality IGBT means a stable, consistent arc and a machine that lasts.

  • Stable, consistent arc weld after weld
  • Switches thousands of times per second
  • Backed by 60+ years of industrial power electronics

105°C rated dual capacitors

105°C

Capacitor temperature rating

Its job
Stores and releases the energy your arc needs.
For you
Steady energy for the arc, for years rather than months.
Details

Capacitors store and release the energy your arc needs. Heat wears them down over time. We use dual capacitors rated at 105°C, giving them significantly more thermal headroom than the standard rating. The arc stays stable and consistent for years, not months.

  • Dual capacitor design for clean energy delivery
  • More thermal headroom than the standard rating
  • Arc quality that holds up over years of use

Out of the machine

Full current leaves the machine with nothing choking it on the way.

35–50 Dinse connectors

35–50

Dinse connector size

Its job
Joins the cable to the machine.
For you
No bottleneck where the cable meets the machine.
Details

The larger 35–50 Dinse connectors handle heavier cables and higher current loads. When the connector matches the cable and the cable matches the machine, current flows without bottlenecks from the inverter to the workpiece.

  • Sized for full-current copper cables
  • Quick, secure twist-lock connection
  • Matched to every other part in the current path

Pure copper, not CCA

25 mm² ARC 200 and MIG 140 · 35 mm² MIG 200

Its job
Carries the current from the machine to the work.
For you
The amps you set are the amps that reach the weld.
Details

Our cables are full copper, not Copper Clad Aluminum (CCA). Copper conducts better, runs cooler, flexes easier, and lasts longer. 25 mm² on the ARC 200 and MIG 140. 35 mm² on the MIG 200. The amps your machine produces actually arrive at the weld.

  • Full copper conductors, no CCA
  • Cooler under load, more flexible in the hand
  • 25 mm² on ARC 200 and MIG 140, 35 mm² on MIG 200

At 60% duty cycle

Ships with the MIG 140 and MIG 200

Its job
The torch is where the welder lives.
For you
Runs cooler, lasts longer, with less voltage drop at the tip.
Details

Rated at 220A at 60% duty cycle. It runs cooler, lasts longer, and delivers less voltage drop at the tip than the smaller torches typically included at this price. Both the MIG 140 and MIG 200 ship with a 24KD because the torch is where the welder lives.

  • Lower voltage drop at the tip
  • Runs cooler through long passes
  • Standard on the MIG 140 and MIG 200

Its job
The first thing you touch on every setup.
For you
Grooved jaw for maximum contact, and a heavy spring that holds under vibration.
Details

Copper and brass conduct. Stamped steel compromises. Our 400A clamp has a grooved jaw for maximum contact and a heavy spring that holds under vibration. It's the first thing you touch on every setup. It should be the last thing you doubt.

  • Grooved jaw for maximum surface contact
  • Heavy spring that holds firm under vibration
  • Rated well above any Thorworx machine's output
